Spilling Over: Legrand’s Q1 2025 Financial Masterclass
Legrand’s Q1 2025 results surpassed all market expectations, indicating its unparalleled flexibility in a fast-changing tech environment. The firm’s revenue reached €2.28 billion—12% year-over-year growth—beating the estimated €2.25 billion. Organic sales jumped 7.6%, well ahead of the 5.1% predicted by analysts. The growth was predominantly fueled by growing worldwide demand for AI-compatible infrastructure.
Data centers in particular have been a significant pillar of growth. They accounted for 20% of Legrand’s sales in 2024, and the robust order book suggests even more vigor in 2025. They adjusted operating profit rose 13% to €470.4 million, with net income up 6.3% at €293.3 million. Earnings per share rose 6.2% to €1.12, with free cash flow skyrocketing 29% to €188.1 million. The company is firmly planted on firm financial footing.
North America: The Growth Driver for Legrand
Of all the regions, North and Central America stole the limelight with a staggering 18.7% organic revenue growth in Q1 2025. Not only did this outperform other markets globally, but it also further solidified the region’s position at the heart of Legrand’s data center strategy. Europe, meanwhile, saw a moderate 0.3% dip, and the rest of the world recorded a more modest 4.8% growth.
Legrand’s aggressive push into North America, particularly in areas such as modular and mission-critical solutions for hyperscale and colocation data centers, is aiding the company in overtaking its rivals. The sophisticated solutions are engineered to optimize high-density AI compute and energy efficiency—perfect for the emerging era of AI-powered data infrastructure.

AI Boom Drives Demand for Legrand’s Data Center Solutions
The AI boom has driven an explosion in data production and processing, triggering a worldwide boom in building data centers. It was quick to benefit from this trend by providing end-to-end infrastructure for “white space” (server racks, networking) as well as “gray room” (power and cooling).
In the last five years, the group has made 12 strategic acquisitions—five in Europe, four worldwide, and three in North and Central America—that have added capabilities in AI-optimized data center technology. Through these acquisitions and an emphasis on modularity, sustainability, and scalability, Legrand has been able to provide interoperable and energy-efficient solutions that address the complex requirements of modern AI systems.
In addition, Legrand is focusing on innovation and the transition to energy. Its energy and digital infrastructure businesses are heading toward contributing almost 50% of total sales in 2024, from merely 38% in 2019. This growth pattern demonstrates the company’s vision in ensuring its strategy is in line with technology trends across the world.
Strategic Agility Despite Global Economic Turmoil
In spite of encountering a tumultuous macroeconomic environment, with supply chain disruptions and changing trade policies, Legrand has shown remarkable resilience. It has resorted to cost-cutting strategies, price increases, and supply chain redesigns to sustain its robust growth trajectory.
CEO Benoît Coquart reaffirmed the full-year and long-term objectives of the company, taking its “very solid” Q1 performance as proof of the strategic accuracy of Legrand. With digitalization, energy efficiency, and AI as priorities, Legrand is well-placed to manage uncertainty while still in the vanguard of digital infrastructure innovation.
