Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence company, G42, has partnered with technology giants OpenAI, Oracle, and Nvidia to create a cutting-edge AI hub in the UAE. The collaboration aims to significantly enhance the local development of AI solutions, focusing on advancing the technology within the region. The companies have formed a strategic alliance to establish Stargate UAE, a powerful 1-gigawatt computing cluster that will operate within the newly set-up 5GW UAE–US AI Campus.
The 1-gigawatt compute cluster will constructed in cooperation with Cisco and Japan’s SoftBank Group. The project will be part of the 5GW UAE–US AI Campus, located in Abu Dhabi. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in providing the necessary computing resources to support AI systems. These resources will be essential for tasks like training AI models, processing vast amounts of data, and generating predictions or responses.
A Historic Step for UAE-US Tech Partnership
The launch of Stargate UAE described as a “significant step” in the growing tech partnership between the UAE and the United States. Peng Xiao, the Group Chief Executive of G42, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in building bridges that can help spread the benefits of AI across economies and societies worldwide. The project reflects the ambitious plans of the UAE to advance its AI capabilities on the global stage.

The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, called Stargate UAE the first major milestone in the “OpenAI for Countries” program. Both Altman and Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, referred to the project as a vital element of the UAE’s bold vision. This vision focuses on using technology to enhance the nation’s economy and contribute to its standing as a global player in AI development.
Stargate UAE Set to Revolutionize Data Connectivity
Stargate UAE has been labeled as the “first-in-the-world platform” that will allow every UAE government agency and commercial institution to connect their data with the world’s most advanced AI models. Oracle’s Chairman and CTO, Larry Ellison, emphasized the transformative potential of this platform. Which will facilitate the connection of local data to global AI resources.
This announcement comes at the end of a busy week for G42. Which has been active in forming key partnerships both locally and internationally. At the “Make it in the Emirates” summit in Abu Dhabi, G42 revealed its collaboration with World Wide Technology. This partnership aims to help the UAE become a significant exporter of AI solutions. G42 joined forces with France’s Mistral AI to develop advanced AI platforms and infrastructure. Marking the second major deal between the UAE and France in the same week.
